Stables Creating Work Experience Opportunities

After taking over a stables and riding school (next door to Whiteleaf Cottage) in June 2006 the Senior Directors and a new staff team have completely revamped the site. The stable blocks have been refurbished and re-wired, a new state-of-the-art surface laid in the indoor school and further land acquired to increase grazing and paddock space.
Over the year a number of new events have been held - with ‘own-a-pony’ days and children’s birthday parties proving particularly popular. A programme of horse and pony shows will soon be underway.

All this activity has provided an opportunity for service users with an interest in horses to get involved through work experience placements. It is hoped that over the next year a tea rooms will be developed as well to provide supported employment opportunities.
